About Hangman4Kids
Hangman4Kids is a free word game for children who are still building their vocabulary. It was made for families and classrooms that want a short daily word activity without accounts, purchases or anything to install.
What the game is
A round of hangman with a hint. The game shows a clue and gives six wrong guesses. Words come from themed lists covering animals, ocean life, space, food, sports, feelings, jobs, weather and more. Each theme has an easy list, aimed at roughly ages 5 to 8, and a harder list for ages 9 and up. There is one theme per day, so if you mastered today's theme come back again tomorrow.
Words are dealt in order through each theme rather than at random, so a theme is worked through completely before anything repeats, and progress is remembered between visits. Multi-word answers show their spaces from the start, so SEA TURTLE appears as two groups of blanks. Children read the shape of the phrase and get a real foothold rather than staring at one big word.
How the words were chosen
Every word carries a hint written to be guessable rather than technical. A child who has never met pangolin can still reach it from "scaly ant-eater" and a few open letters, which is the point: the game teaches words instead of testing which ones were already known. Words are grouped by theme rather than shuffled together, and each theme is filled out enough that a session stays inside one subject instead of skipping between unrelated words.
A couple of examples
Two themes, with a handful of words from each list to show the range and how the hints read.

Using the words away from the screen
The same words work on paper. Write the blanks out, give the hint aloud, and let a child call letters — the how to play page has the coaching order that makes this useful rather than random. For school spelling lists, the game's rules transfer directly: hint first, vowels first, read the pattern.
Who it is for
Parents looking for ten minutes of reading practice that does not feel like homework. Teachers who need a warm-up activity on a projector. Speech and language therapists using themed vocabulary. Grandparents playing with a child over a video call. The game works on phones, tablets and desktops, and needs no sign-in.
How it is funded
The site is free and supported by advertising. There are no subscriptions, no in-game purchases and no paid unlocks — every word and every theme is available to everyone. How advertising and data work on this site is set out in the privacy policy.
